I was saddened today when I read about a Montana mountain biker who was killed last June by a grizzly. He rounded a curve and T-boned the bear. It appeared he went over his handlebars and tried to break his fall with his hands, breaking his wrists and clavicle. Having no firearm or pepper spray and no means of communicating beyond themselves, his partner sought help. But it was too late. Making noise where visibility is limited and having personal protection may have saved his life.
